Wellness Wednesday Newsletter
This Week's Theme: Sometimes the Best Next Step Is to Pause
Welcome! This week, I've been thinking a lot about quiet.
Not the kind that comes when life slows down, but the kind we intentionally create in the middle of a busy season. The kind that allows us to hear our own thoughts, trust our intuition, and make decisions from a place of clarity instead of urgency.
Inside this week's newsletter:
- A Note from Me – Choosing to pause before a big life decision.
- Wellness Tip – The power of white space.
- From the Coaching Room – When our subconscious hears what it needs.
- From My Kitchen – The recipe that got me out of a meal rut.
- What's Happening in HFG – An invitation to reset.
- Reflection of the Week – One question to carry with you.
My hope is that each week you'll leave with one idea, one practical tool, or one small reflection that strengthens your foundation.

A Note from Me
|
|
Next week, my family will find out whether we're moving.
It feels like we've been holding our breath for months, waiting for this one answer. Between budgets, paperwork, logistics, work, parenting, and trying to maintain some semblance of routine, it has been a season of constant transition.
|
And somewhere in the middle of it all, I've still been trying to take care of myself and continue working toward my own health goals.
I've realized lately that what I need most isn't another wellness book or productivity hack.
I need quiet.
The kind of quiet where no one needs me for a few minutes. The kind where I'm not answering questions, making decisions, or solving problems. Just enough space to hear my own thoughts and reconnect with myself.
The older I get, the more I realize that wellness isn't one-size-fits-all. Some people recharge through movement, some through connection, and some through adventure.
Right now, I need silence.
When I don't create that space, I notice it almost immediately. I become short-tempered, overwhelmed, and reactive. My decisions come from fear instead of clarity.
That's one of the reasons we're still taking our family vacation this week, even though the timing feels less than ideal. Every part of me wants to stay home, keep checking my email, and prepare for every possible outcome.
But this year, I'm choosing something different.
I'm choosing to pause before stepping into whatever comes next.
Because sometimes the strongest thing we can do isn't push harder.
It's create enough space to hear ourselves again.

Wellness Tip
Many of us schedule every minute of our calendars but leave no room for life to happen.
Try creating white space in your week.
Fifteen minutes between appointments.
A slower morning.
Ten minutes in the car before walking inside.
An evening without plans.
Your nervous system needs transitions just as much as it needs sleep.
Those small pockets of space often become the moments where creativity, clarity, and calm return.

From the Coaching Room
Last week, I shared about a client who unexpectedly found herself reading after work as a way to decompress. This week, I want to share another perspective.
|
For months, we've been working together on stress management, exploring different ways to regulate the nervous system and build more recovery into her life. Recently, we began talking about the stress cycle and the many different ways we can help our bodies move through it.
During one of our sessions, I asked permission to offer a suggestion. I encouraged her to think about movement not as another task on her to-do list, but as a way to reduce stress.
When she checked in the following week, she told me she hadn't done it.
Instead, she had been reading after work.
The more I reflected on that conversation, the more I realized something beautiful had happened. While I consciously suggested movement, her subconscious heard something deeper. It heard permission to recover. It heard permission to choose what she needed.
And in this season, that looked like getting lost in a book.
Moments like these remind me why I love coaching.
I never know which question, story, or conversation will create a shift. My role isn't to hand someone the perfect answer. It's to ask thoughtful questions, offer perspective, and create enough space for people to discover the answers that have been within them all along.
I've always believed that you are the expert in your own life.
Sometimes all you need is enough quiet to hear yourself.

From My Kitchen
Lately, I found myself in a bit of a meal rut. We were rotating through the same handful of dinners week after week, changing one ingredient here or there but essentially eating the same meals on repeat.
|
Then a recipe popped up in one of my nutrition portals for a high-protein chicken and lentil dish, and I decided to give it a try.
OMG...it is SO good.
I've already shared it with a few clients, and they've loved it too. It's hearty, flavorful, and a great reminder that sometimes all it takes is one new recipe to make cooking feel exciting again.
If you're looking to shake up your weekly meal rotation, I hope you enjoy this one as much as we have.

What's Happening in HFG
One of my favorite parts of this season has been working with my Coach in Your Pocket clients.
This style of coaching is built for people who know what supports their health but struggle to stay consistent when life gets busy.
|
If this week's message resonated with you, I think you'll love what Dr. Kate and I have been creating.
The Nervous System Reset Experience was designed for people who feel like they're constantly carrying the weight of work, family, responsibilities, and expectations. Together, we'll explore how stress affects the body and share practical tools to help you move from survival mode toward recovery.
Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is intentionally create space to reset.
I'd love to have you join us.

Reflection of the Week
Before your next big decision, ask yourself:
Am I making this decision from a place of urgency...or from a place of clarity?
And if the answer is urgency, what would it look like to create just a little more white space before taking your next step?
Thank you for spending a few minutes with me today.
My hope is that this newsletter becomes a place where you can pause, reflect, and remember that wellness isn't about having all the answers. Sometimes it's simply about creating enough space to hear the wisdom that's already within you.
Be well,
Mariana Santiago-Jimenez, HWC
