Three Questions Every Engaged Couple Should Ask

Wellness Wednesday Newsletter

This Week's Theme: Preparing for More Than the Wedding Day

If you noticed there wasn't a Wellness Wednesday newsletter in your inbox last week, thank you for your grace! My family and I were in the middle of moving into our new home, and life was a little fuller than expected. Rather than rushing to write something just to meet a deadline, I chose to wait until I had the time and space to share something meaningful.

This week, I want to take you behind the scenes of one of my recent bridal wellness coaching sessions.

With just over a month until their wedding, the conversation naturally shifted. We weren't talking about starting healthy habits anymore. We were talking about how to protect the foundation they had already built during one of the busiest seasons of their lives.

Inside this week's newsletter:

  • A Note from Me - The three questions I asked one of my bridal wellness couples as they enter the final month before their wedding.
  • From the Coaching Room - The difference between consistency and flexibility.
  • Wellness Tip - Why planning around your real calendar can reduce stress.
  • From My Kitchen - A simple, protein-packed dessert that's perfect for busy weeks.
  • What's Happening in HFG -A few updates from Humble Foods Guidance.
  • Reflection of the Week - One question to carry into your week.

My hope is that you walk away with one idea that helps you prepare not just for your wedding day, but for the everyday life you're building together.

A Note from Me

One of my favorite parts about coaching engaged couples is that no two sessions are ever the same.

Early in the coaching process, we're focused on building a strong foundation. We identify goals, create routines, and find healthy habits that fit each couple's lifestyle. We experiment, adjust, and learn what works best.

But as the wedding day gets closer, the conversation begins to change.

Recently, I was preparing for a session with one of my couples, and with just over a month until their wedding, I realized we weren't going to spend our time talking about building new habits.

We were going to spend our time protecting the ones they had already worked so hard to build.

The wedding timeline was changing, so our conversation needed to change too.

Instead of asking, "What should we add?" I found myself asking three questions.

What routines do you want to protect?

As life gets busier over the next few weeks, what habits help you feel your best? Which ones are worth protecting, even during one of the busiest seasons of your life?

What traditions do you want to create?

Not just on your wedding day, but during your engagement and into your marriage. What small traditions do you hope become part of your everyday life together?

What does life look like after all the planning is over?

The average engagement lasts one to two years. Then, one day, the planning is finished. Have you thought about how you want to enjoy the space that follows and the life you're beginning to build together?

Those were the questions we explored together, and I thought they were too meaningful not to share with you.

From the Coaching Room

One of the biggest shifts I see with engaged couples is this:

The closer the wedding gets, the easier it is to focus on checking things off the wedding to-do list while unintentionally putting your own well-being on the back burner.

That's why I encourage my clients to plan around their real calendar, not their ideal one.

If you know you have vendor meetings on Thursday, a bridal shower on Saturday, and family coming into town on Sunday, this probably isn't the week to try five new recipes or commit to an hour-long workout every day.

Instead, we ask:

What will help you feel your best this week?

Maybe it's meal planning instead of meal prepping.

Maybe it's packing snacks for a long day of appointments.

Maybe it's protecting your evening walk together, even if it's only 15 minutes.

Consistency doesn't always look the same.

Sometimes consistency means adjusting your plan while staying committed to the habits that matter most.

Wellness Tip: Plan for Reality

Plan for the Week You Have,
Not the Week You Wish You Had

One of the easiest ways to reduce stress during a busy season is to spend five minutes looking ahead.

Before the week begins, pull out your calendar and ask yourself:

  • Which nights will we be home for dinner?
  • When are we most likely to feel rushed?
  • What meals can we prepare ahead of time?
  • When can we fit in movement or time to recharge?

The goal isn't to have a perfect plan.

The goal is to make healthy choices easier before life gets busy.

A little planning today can prevent a lot of stress later.

From My Kitchen

One thing I never want my clients to believe is that healthy eating means giving up the foods they enjoy.

This week's recipe is a Peanut Butter Chia Yogurt Dessert Bowl with a Chocolate Topping. It's creamy, satisfying, packed with protein, healthy fats, and fiber, and feels like a treat while still supporting your wellness goals.

It's also a great make-ahead option for busy weeks. Mix everything together the night before, let the chia seeds work their magic, and top it with dark chocolate and fresh fruit when you're ready to enjoy it.

Sometimes the healthiest choice is simply having something nourishing waiting for you in the refrigerator.

What's Happening in HFG

The past few weeks have been a season of transition as my family and I settled into our new home. Because of that, I've intentionally slowed down to focus on getting unpacked, creating new routines, and being present during this season.

As we settle in, I'm excited to jump back into planning what's next for Humble Foods Guidance!

Over the next few weeks, I'll be selecting the bridal shows I'll be attending this fall and finalizing a few exciting opportunities to connect with more brides and couples.

If you're a bride or part of a couple preparing for your wedding day and looking to build healthy habits that last long after the celebration, I'd love to support you.

Stay tuned...there's more to come this fall!let

Reflection of the Week

The average engagement lasts one to two years, but marriage is built in the everyday moments that follow.

What do you hope your ordinary Tuesday looks like one year from now?

Take a few moments this week to think about the routines, traditions, and habits that will help you build that life.

Thank you for spending part of your Wednesday with me.

Whether your wedding is just around the corner or you're simply navigating a busy season of life, I hope this week's questions encourage you to pause, look ahead, and be intentional about the foundation you're building.

Remember, wellness isn't about doing everything perfectly. It's about making small, consistent choices that support the life you're creating, one season at a time.

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you next Wednesday!

Be well,

Mariana Santiago-Jimenez, HWC

Wellness Wednesday Newsletter This Week’s Theme: Support From the Inside Out I hope you’re having a wonderful week! When we think about supporting our bodies, we often imagine that it requires a big change. A completely new eating plan. A demanding workout routine. A cabinet full of supplements. Another long list of things we need to do perfectly. But support can also begin with something incredibly small. Sometimes it looks like adding chia seeds to your water. Sometimes it is eating a snack...

Wellness Wednesday Newsletter This Week's Theme: The Tool Is Not the Plan I hope you’re having a wonderful week! There are more tools available to support our health than ever before. Medications. Supplements. Detoxes. Protein powders. Apps. Meal plans. Wearable devices. Some of these tools can be incredibly helpful. They may help us feel better, create momentum, or make a difficult goal feel more manageable. But a tool still needs a purpose. This week, we are talking about GLP-1 medications,...
